تناول د. جمال شقرة أستاذ التاريخ الحديث والمعاصر ، مدير مركز بحوث الشرق الأوسط والدراسات المستقبلية بجامعة عين شمس السابق في كتابه “تنظيم الضباط الأحرار ”
نشأة وتكوين النواة الخاصة بأعضاء التنظيم وفكرهم وانتماؤهم الطبقي، وعلاقتهم بالإخوان والشيوعيين والأحزاب وقيامهم بالأعمال الفدائية، وصدامهم مع الملك، وإحراق القاهرة، ووضع خطة التحرك، وحسب ما ورد في تقارير المخابرات الحربية والبحرية أواخر الثلاثينات وطوال الأربعينات ، شهد الجيش المصري تسلل تيارات الفكر السياسي وأفكار الجماعات الأيدلوجية، واندفع الضباط الذين تخرجوا من الكلية الحربية بعد معاهدة ١٩٣٦ لتكوين جماعات صغيرة تهاجم الملك والاحتلال وتتبع مظاهر الفساد ثم نجح جمال عبدا لناصر في تكوين تنظيم الضباط الأحرار الذي بدأ بضباط تسعة هم الذين شكلوا نواة التنظيم، ثم تعددت بعد ذلك خلايا التنظيم ، وخطط الضباط الأحرار لقلب نظام الحكم وهو ما حدث ليلة ٢٣ يوليو ١٩٥٢.
ولقد حاول البعض الإغارة على التنظيم وسرقته ونسبته لنفسه ، ناقش هذا الكتاب مبالغات بعض الضباط الذين زعموا أنهم أسسوا تنظيمات كبيرة قبل ظهور تنظيم الضباط الأحرار، وفند أيضا ادعاءات البعض بأنهم هم الذين أسسوا هذا التنظيم وفي مقدمتهم أنور السادات وكتابات جماعة الإخوان.
الكتاب نشر عن دار الحسيني الطباعة ويوجد في جناح دار النشر في معرض القاهرة الدولي للكتاب، غلاف الكتاب من تصميم الفنان التشكيلي عبد القادر الحسيني..
