التقى د. بدر عبد العاطي، وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي والمصريين بالخارج، بالبارونة جيني تشابمين، وزيرة الدولة البريطانية للتنمية الدولية وأفريقيا، اليوم الثلاثاء ١٩ مايو، حيث تناول اللقاء سبل تعزيز التعاون الثلاثي بالقارة الأفريقية، ودعم الاستقرار والتنمية في أفريقيا.
أشاد الوزير عبد العاطي بالزخم المتنامي الذي تشهده العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، مؤكداً أهمية العمل على الارتقاء بالعلاقات الثنائية إلى آفاق أرحب في مختلف المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والتجارية، وتشجيع زيادة الاستثمارات البريطانية في مصر خلال السنوات المقبلة، مؤكداً على المقاربة المصرية إزاء توثيق التعاون والتكامل مع الدول الأفريقية، من خلال التركيز على المشروعات ذات الأولوية، ونقل التجارب الوطنية التنموية الناجحة.
وفيما يتعلق بالأوضاع في السودان، أطلع الوزير عبد العاطي الوزيرة البريطانية على الجهود المصرية الحثيثة في إطار الآلية الرباعية، مشدداً على أهمية سرعة التوصل إلى هدنة إنسانية تمهيداً لوقف شامل لإطلاق النار، وإطلاق عملية سياسية شاملة ذات ملكية سودانية خالصة، مع أولوية إنشاء ممرات إنسانية آمنة وضمان وصول المساعدات دون عوائق، مجدداً التأكيد على موقف مصر الثابت الداعم لوحدة السودان وسيادته وسلامة أراضيه والحفاظ على مؤسساته الوطنية ورفض إنشاء أي كيانات موازية.
