وجهت الدكتورة منال عوض، وزيرة التنمية المحلية والقائم بأعمال وزير البيئة، تنفيذ برنامج دوري للمرور على المحميات الطبيعية بمختلف المحافظات، بهدف تكثيف أعمال المتابعة والرصد للحفاظ على الموارد الطبيعية وتعظيم الاستفادة منها في دعم السياحة البيئية والاقتصاد القومي.
وفي هذا الإطار، قام الدكتور محمد أحمد يوسف، رئيس قطاع حماية الطبيعة، بزيارة ميدانية إلى محمية وادي الجمال بمحافظة البحر الأحمر، لتفقد الأنشطة والبرامج المنفذة بها، ومتابعة أوجه التعاون مع المجتمع المحلي والجمعيات الأهلية بما يعزز جهود الصون والحفاظ على الموارد الطبيعية.
وعلى هامش الزيارة، تفقد رئيس قطاع حماية الطبيعة الأنشطة التي تنفذها جمعية بيئة بلا حدود داخل نطاق محمية وادي الجمال، لمتابعة تنفيذ بروتوكول التعاون الموقع بين وزارة البيئة والجمعية، والهادف إلى تعزيز جهود تخزين الكربون من خلال استزراع أشجار المانجروف في البحر الأحمر، بالإضافة إلى دعم برامج الصون والتوسع في زراعة المانجروف، بما يسهم في تطبيق الحلول القائمة على الطبيعة لمواجهة آثار التغيرات المناخية.
كما اجتمع رئيس قطاع حماية الطبيعة بممثلي قبيلة العبابدة وأهالي المنطقة، حيث نقل إليهم تحيات الدكتورة منال عوض، مؤكدًا توجيهاتها بدعم المجتمع المحلي وتشجيع مشروعات النباتات الطبية والعطرية وإنتاج عسل النحل الجبلي بما يعزز التنمية المستدامة.
وخلال جولته، تفقد رئيس قطاع حماية الطبيعة عددًا من المواقع السياحية بالمحمية، والتقى بعدد من الزوار المصريين والأجانب للاستماع إلى انطباعاتهم حول تجربة زيارة المحمية .
جديراً بالذكر أن محمية وادي الجمال تقع على ساحل البحر الأحمر جنوب مدينة مرسى علم، وتمتد على مساحة تقارب ٧٦٣٦ كم²، وتتميز بتنوع بيئي فريد يجمع بين الشعاب المرجانية والجبال والوديان الخصبة، فضلًا عن النباتات النادرة والحيوانات المهددة بالانقراض. كما تُعد موطنًا مهمًا للطيور المهاجرة مثل صقر الغروب، وتضم مواقع أثرية تعود للعصور الفرعونية والرومانية، إلى جانب مجتمع قبائل العبابدة الذين يحافظون على تقاليدهم الأصيلة.
